Passengers do not FLY on the airlines. They RIDE. Only the pilot and
copilot FLY.

Next time you hear a friend say "I'm flying to ........." tell him,
"Like hell you are; you're just RIDING!"

I think there was a George Carlin bit that went...

I'm going for a DRIVE,

You're going for a RIDE.

IIRC his line was:

"You can ride "on" the airplane if you want but me, I'm riding *IN* the
f*ckin' airplane..."

Carry On...

Great skit!

Just dug up an MP3 I have of it.

"Which brings me to "Terminal." Another unfortunate word to be used in
association with Air Travel. And they use it all over the airport,
don't they? Somehow, I just can't hungry at a place called the
"Terminal Snack Bar." But if you've ever eaten there, you know it is an
appropriate name"

Thank you. The same goes for the Flight Attendants, too. When I ask
what you do, and you say you "Fly for American Airlines," you're BSing
me if you're a flight attendant. You're an FA; you don't FLY for
anybody.

I'm sure a sea change will be forthcoming in public attitudes thanks
to your "corrections."

Everybody flies; the pilot and co-pilot PILOT the plane.

Or at least only the pilot and copilot feel compelled to make this
specious distinction.

They are all in the plane; they are all flying. You may be confusing
flying with piloting. The piloting is handled by the FMS.
