If the weather is reasonable, consider cancelling IFR if ATC wants you
to go closer to Albany than NYC. Go west of the NYC area (look at the route JFK Jr took that awful night) then swing east of Providence. You're going to be there at a nice time to go to the Islands as well. When is the daffodil (sp?) festival on Nantuckett? If timing works out, on the way back stop at Old Rhinebeck (spelling again) in NY and see the airshow. We had some rain when we were there the last time (before Xmas), found the drive up to the JFK museum in Boston well worth the time (ditto for the Museum of Fine Arts, or the Gardner). Everyone goes to P Town, down at the other end is Woods Hole, and that's worth a trip too. Remember, should you drive around Boston, that using turn signals is considered giving information to the enemy. Be prepared for numerous reroutes around NYC though.
