Yup, those young pilots are bigger than me, better looking than me,
faster than me, stronger than me, scan better, have better vision, better hearing, and multi task faster/better... So, why are they the ones getting caught in weather, having icing emergencies, skidding off taxiways, running out of fuel, crashing their jet on final approach, busting the ADIZ, punching the DC TFR, crashing into the ocean on a calm night, hitting apartment buildings, and generally giving GA a bad name? denny - older than dirt, slower than a snail, weaker than lite beer, and still able to fly from point A to point B without any excitement whatever... |

Not surprising. Young car drivers have better coordination and motor skills
than older drivers but take a look at the accident rates for young versus older drivers. It's not through some fluke that teenage drivers pay a much higher insurance rate than mature drivers. Remember the old story about the young bull and the old bull looking down the hill at a herd of cows? The young bull says "Let's run down the hill and screw a cow". The old bull says "Let's WALK down the hill and screw them all"! The exuberance of youth sometimes gets in the way of wisdom. "Mxsmanic" wrote in message ... As for the suggestion that old pilots are just the leftovers from the weeding out process - don't be giving an old pilot like me new thoughts like that, it confuses me... denny - |
