Now I can say conclusively that they're sleeping bag dryers! :-)
Virtually every plane, in front of every tent, at every campsite in OSH had a variety of items hanging from the props this year. It was the first Osh I've ever attended -- and we've been there a bunch -- where it rained every day. Not a lot, mind you -- just enough to make you watch the skies warily throughout the day. -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

I like your use of qualifying language, especially the "virtually" part. My campsite withstood the wind and rain. I did, however, take down the tarp during the windstorm Tuesday afternoon to protect the airplane. It was then used to cover the kitchen equipment while the rain lasted. Next year, I am thinking of offering a class to the unenlightened on how to stake one's tent so it doesn't blow away during the Oshkosh monsoon season. With an extra credit class on how to repair tent poles with duct tape and beer cans. ;-) |

I see you have taken this class previously. Apparently, you only took the first part of the class before dropping (passing?) out. Remember, to complete the class and receive full course credit, you must complete ALL assignments. Your final grade depends on it. :-) |

Next year, I am thinking of offering a class to the unenlightened on how
to stake one's tent so it doesn't blow away during the Oshkosh monsoon season. Funny, I thought I could actually teach that class, after so many years of camping -- but this year proved me wrong. Two of our plastic stakes were actually sheared off even with the ground, and the 1 inch aluminum poles were bent like pipe cleaners. Part of the problem was that our old tent was a very "vertical" design, which made it great for interior space, and horrible for wind resistance. Our new one is much more aerodynamic, and has double the floor space -- but it's not nearly as nice inside for standing room. -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |
