Thanks, Bob Gaines I have an old Crosfell in my shop that I'd be happy to see find a good home. No idea if it runs or not. Craig Funston I had a crossfell in the Cherokee when I first bought it. It was running on three D Cell Batteries at the time. I think something was reversed as the vario would show negative when I was in lift and positive in sink. the scale was way off too as the strongest lift I was ever in only registered at about .5 m/s. but it worked once you figured it out. still is sittin in my hangar. should still work as described, have removed it and all the hardware, including a diaphragm total energy system. bob didnt you help get my Cherokee airworthy again in lawrenceville? writes What voltage powers the old Crossfell vario.? The red/green face variety? Thanks, Bob Gaines Hey, that takes me back! I think they ran on 4 1/2 volts. We didn't have a lot in the way of electronics in those days. -- Mike Lindsay |

Robert
I have 10 pages of original documentation on the Crossfell Variometer which I obtained from a fellow in Canada some years ago. This documentation includes circuit diagrams, specifications, etc. These pages show the instrument as running on 4.5 volts, with 4.2 volts as the recommended minimum. Send me a direct email including your address if you would like me to photocopy and post this information for you. I have a Crossfell set aside in my gliding kit but no time to put into it. Currently stuck with trailer building. Regards Roger Druce, Australia "Robert Gaines" wrote in message ... What voltage powers the old Crossfell vario.? The red/green face variety?
