Probably because they purchase in large quantities, there's a lot more
boaters out there than gliders, and internet sales tend to be competitive?

I've found the on-line marine supply places have some of the lowest prices
on RV stuff too. I purchased a Prosine 2000 watt inverter for $1200 that
Camping World was selling for over $1800.

I wasn't going to post this, as I prefer to support glider businesses when
possible. However, since other competitive links have already been posted, I
think the lowest advertised price for the MicroFix type PLB is at the link
below.

The ResQfix (same unit as the MicroFix but different color, blue instead of
green, *and* the ResQfix comes with a floatation pouch that doubles as a
protective case), available for $550 from (note the last = may not copy . .
