Yeah, but we do it from 2000 ft away to give the high wire insulators a
sporting chance...

Actually, to be honest, I can't tell you where the closest corn field
is from our home. It's...somewhere east of town.

(It's easy to find corn from the hotel-- they grow it ON THE FIELD at
our airport! It brings in $20 - $30K per year.)


When I was up there, I had a hangar over at C17... It's right in the
middle of a corn field... As you can see from the photo of it on the
AirNav web page...

Marion is a cool little strip. When we first moved to Iowa, ten years
ago, it was almost unusable. Since then, they've repaved the ramp and
runway, and it's just a neat little place to visit.

Unfortunately, it's too close to home for us, so we don't go there
often. (Although we DID fly into Amana yesterday -- an 18 minute
flight. But there is SO much to see and do there, and the challenging
little grass strip, that it makes it all worth doing.)
