Wow! I didn't realize my post would create such discussion.
The mission of the United States Corps of Chaplains is -- to provide ministerial support and services to communities, families, and individuals and all possible assistance in response to disasters of any type; to provide military honors and assistance to active military personnel, veterans, and their families; to promote patriotism in the community; to defend the Constitution of the United States of America; to uphold and defend the Bill of Rights, seen as unalienable, given by God to free men that they might remain free; to ensure that all citizens, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, physical characteristics, or national origin, shall have the right and opportunity to practice their religion as established and guaranteed by that document which guides this great nation. Some of our Chaplains are American Red Cross certified Instructors and some have even received training from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Law Enforcement as well as some Forensic Chaplains volunteer with our organization. We have offered our services to post-Katrina efforts and to the Crash of Flight 5191 in Lexington, KY. We also have some Chaplains on active duty. We do not require ordination, however, for the award of the title, "Chaplain," verified ordination is required. We need Recruiters, Chaplain Assistants, Personnel Officers, Administrative Officers, Disaster Responders, YOU!!! With the current outlook for tornados, drought, forest fires, and a very busy hurricane season, let us remember the Commonwealth of Kentucky's motto, "United We Stand, Divided We Fall." If you or anyone you know are interested in becoming a member of an organization dedicated to nurturing the living, caring for the dying, and honoring the dead, please feel free to contact us at: www.uscochq.com, or by emailing Chaplain (Colonel) Lonnie J. Potter, National Recruiting Coordinator, at or by writing: USCOC, P. O. Box 390, Clanton, AL 35046. -- Chappie |

I am sorry to bring this up; however, this thread has nothing to do with

I'm sorry to add another insight into this seemingly never-ending series of stupid posts from so-called Chaplain (Colonel) Lonnie J. Potter, who says to contact him at , not seeming to understand that chaplains do not carry sidearms, and the US Army does not now carry the Colt ..45 and he seems to have withdrawn his picture in 1980's European camouflage, which is now not used, and he is not now, nor has he ever been, a chaplain in the US Army, which is what he wants everybody to think that he is. Of course, since this is alt.binaries.pictures.military, he could post his commission. He could also post to us.military.army, where army people post. But he won't. Of course, I could be completely wrong, and he is a colonel in the US army chaplains corps. It's easy to prove, especially since he has chosen to post in only one group, and one that does pics..... |

All is revealed. This is exploitive SPAM! I think the "Colonel" is in the business of exploiting those who may be sincere in their beliefs, but are locked into the philosophy of the Christian right. Today and in the recent past military organizations in the US and other countries have provided for those in need of support of their faith with the military Chaplain. Chaplains I have known were good men bringing comfort to anguished men (and now many women). They have risked themselves under fire. Most had a broad understanding of many Christian denominations and religions and did not evangelize. They did not bicker over who was Catholic, who was Baptist, Jew, Muslim or atheist. They brought aid to all without self aggrandizement or attempting to "save" those comfortable with themselves not seeking to be "saved." Chaplains of all faiths have been on the front lines of conflicts when they can. They have fallen in battle and have been wounded and damaged by their experiences. They are trained and know how to deal with the psychological and spiritual trauma troops in the field suffer. The "Colonel" needs to let the Chaplains do their job. His exploitive presence can only interfere with that. Savageduck |
