I don't think you are correct in the ID of the second, fatal, aircraft and
pilot. It is best not to post names, etc. in public newsgroups until the details are certain. You may have caused grief for those not injured by your post. I know a number of the folks involved, including Ron, who I don't think was involved in any way, from what I'm getting. I'm a warbird pilot, too, and many of these folks are friends or aquaintances.. My 2 cents. Randy "Just Plane Noise" wrote in message ... Yesterday I posted pictures of unlimited air racers at Oshkosh. Today they had another race, but as the planes were landing, the two Mustangs I posted pictures of (Precious Metal--green-winged-- and Stang-blue and yellow) yesterday got into it as they were landing. I didn't witness the accident, but it was not far from the approach end of 36. Witnesses told me that Precious Metal ran into Stang, and Stang went over on its nose and slid down and then off the runway. Meanwhile, Precious Metal flipped over and there was an explosion and fire lasting about 30 seconds. It seems Precious Metal's pilot is dead (the owner is listed as Ron Buccarelli, but I don't know if he was the pilot), but witnesses saw the other pilot running from Stang and the TV news said he had non-serious injuries (Stang is owned by Bob Odegaard, but someone said his son was flying Stang while Bob was in his Super Corsair). The warbird show was cancelled for the day, but oddly enough, the person in charge of the pyro said it had to be exploded today and they were talking about doing it at the end of the truncated airshow. I don't know if the Raptors flew--I was too depressed and just left. Anyway, yEnc'ed pictures to follow. |

Randy I have a picture of the wrecked Precious Metal, so I'm certainly right about the plane (although I won't upload the picture--too ghoulish). Moreover, if you'll go to the local paper's website (thenorthwestern.com), you'll see and hear eyewitness accounts of the crash, including one that describes how Precious Metal and Stang collided. Now I specifically said I didn't know who was piloting Precious Metal--I merely identified the owner, which is public knowledge. The news media have still not ID'ed the dead pilot, and I wouldn't be so irresponsible as to say who was piloting a plane without having some reliable source. So get off my case. The "Precious Metal" involved was the new build P-51A not the Griffon
powered Reno Racer. Thoughts and prayers to all involved! "Randy Wilson" wrote in message ... I don't think you are correct in the ID of the second, fatal, aircraft and pilot.
