Flights Scored and OLC Valid using Garmin GPSMap76 and See You Software.
BT "ZL" wrote in message ... Be a little careful and read the OLC rules. Hit the rules tab on the OLC banner. Only OLC Approved Software or any IGC approved GNSS Logger can be used for the Onlinecontest. Avoid a little frustration by checking whether you have, or can get, OLC approved software for the GPS logger you want to buy. It can be done very inexpensively, and its a lot of fun to share and compare your logs with your flying buddies. -Dave BT wrote: $200 Garmin GPSMap76 handheld GPS No software purchase, maybe a serial to USB connection cable if your computer does not support Serial downloads X-C Soar is free ok.. if you want airspace displayed on it GPSMap96 $375-$495 dependent on if you want color BT "RN" wrote in message ... There is no question that the OLC generates a lot of motivation and provides a purpose to get away from circling the home field. These folks have done a tremendous job. It provides an opportunity to get more folks flying more often, and having a purpose or desire to stretch their flights. My current understanding, the required loggers are in the $750 + range. Is anyone aware of lower cost loggers that would allow us to get more folks involved in this very motivational activity? This does not involve the top ranking pilots, but the entry fee is currently a bit high for the casual pilot. RN |

I've been getting scored flights for 2 years with a Garnim GPS72 and
using GPS Dump for the download. I have upgraded to a color GPSMAP76C and get faster downloads with the USB and the same GPS Dump freeware. You can fly in the OLC for under $100.
