Call it as you want, 3000 people killed in this country by Pinochet

It was during the Cold War, and when you have a choice between a horrible guy on your side versus a horrible guy on the other guy's side, you have to make some ugly choices... and we did. But no worse (and usually better) than some of the other "free" countries around the world at the time. Like the Shah of Iran, who was a nasty *******, but certainly better than what replaced him. Or just about anyone in South America. Luckily, most of the Socialist and Communist countries have collapsed, and the ones that are left are slowly starting to transition to capitalism.
