Call me crazy but I'm still of the believe that if good, honest citizens were allowed to carry guns criminals would not feel so empowered to comment the types of weapons crimes we see today. When a city passes a law that guarantees that good citizens will not have guns the criminals get a free pass. I know some liberal who has never touched a gun before will find this offensive but the truth isn't always pretty. -Robert |

Well, I've touched more than a few guns and still own one, but I think you're wrong.I've also been in some parts of the world where guns are more commonplace ( well,. more visible) than in the US and they are very very dangerous places indeed. They also have death penalty laws for just about everything and all that appears to do is ensure that any crime is a matter of life or death for the perpetrator thus giving him nothing to lose by kicking it up a notch. I'm no bleeding heart, BTW. I only want what works. I saw a saying the other day that went something like this "to say that guns kill people is like saying pencils cause misspelling". -Robert |

Well, it was more the laws I was addressing. The high availability of guns was the problem there, but the ferociously high violent crime rate ( not as high as the US, but close) also involved machetes and knives. The laws were so brutal that life became very cheap and it's only getting worse. Bertie |

After Arizona passed its concealed carry law in the early 1990's their precipitous drop in certain types of crime was matched by a rise in those statistics here in southern California as the perps sought less dangerous hunting grounds. Of course, the bleeding hearts insist that can't be right... :-) -R.S.Hoover |

I have a gun and I would use it if I had to. but arming every second asshole on the streets is not a way to stem violent crime. Bertie |
