Then there are trains and train tracks but two things differ.

1) People, right or wrong, don't view the danger the same
2) You can invest a potload of money into an airpark house and because
of perceptions alone, your resale market gets smaller and smaller.

Utter nonsense! A GA airport does not negatively affect real estate
values.

Never said that. I said the market for resale is significantly affected
by perceptions which reduce the number of people who would be interested
in purchasing in an airpark. I would particularly point to the Captiva
example. it's an absolutely gorgeous place...with a limited market.
Resales there take loads of time, one reason is the perception of living
near an airstrip.

Here at Spruce Creek we have some of the highest-priced homes in the
county (near Daytona Beach).

There are $10M homse on Captiva. The price of the home means nothing in
terms of what I said, MOF, the higher the price of the home, including
airstrip, further limits the resale market. These are not speculations,
they are mathematical and historical facts.

Duh, every "specialty" neighborhood poses a difficult time for resale.
I for one would NEVER buy a house in a golf community, but I'm building
in an aviation community. There are more golfers than pilots (sad, but
true) so the market isn't as limited, but pilots are more fun :-}!

Depends on whether the Mile High Club or the On Green Association is
your preference.

Now who would want to live in one of those golf communities? Everyone
knows that it is very dangerous to live on a golf-coarse. One of
those errant hooks can come into your backyard, hit you on the head
and kill you.

Excellent point. I HAVE been hit and injured by a golf ball I have never
been hit by an aircraft.

I used to work with someone who bought on a golf course, He had a HUGE
bucket of balls from the yard, but was quite happy. It was the guy down
the way that had major damage on his house from the balls (he did buy
right on the turn of the green!)

I was the general contractor for a house that was built off to the right of
the tee, a perfect distance for a good slice to hit right into the property.

Balls being hit into the yard and house? You bet!

One example, is the fact that a track loader was only on the property for
about 6 or 7 days, all totaled, for clearing the land, digging the basement,
and then for final grading. During that time, a golf ball bounced off the
loader.. TWICE !!! Both times the loader was sitting about where the
swimming pool was to be built. Almost every time, the errant golfer had the
guts to come onto the property to try and find the ball. I saw *nothing*
about seeing a ball, every time.
;-)

I lost count of how many times a ball bounced off the house as it was being
framed and having the Cedar siding being applied. I told the owner that I
felt it was necessary to put "golf ball window protectors" on the 4 windows
that directly faced the tee, and he agreed. I put 1/4" Plexiglas "over
window" shields over those windows, so he was not constantly replacing
glass.

I agree with the fact you are far more likely to be hit with a golf ball,
than by an out of control airplane.

I heard that Elliot Spitzer is looking at golf course homes.

He heard that there are a lot of hookers there!
