Finally got to talk to my gun totin buddy. He assures me that the
video posted is absolutely correct. I'd seen the holsters OK, but
wasn't too sure if the deficiencies the poster pointed out were for
real or somethig he concocted. Apparently, it's even easier to **** up
holstering the weapon than the video made out. Yipes! I don't really
see the point of the whole locked holster thing myself.
Also, it is standard to have one in the chamber, which I think is also
a mistake, but there ya are. That's the way they're doing it. he just
got back from recurrent training, which is fairly substaintial, but
classified...

Thank's for getting that info, Bertie.
I'd heard that's how it's handled, but it seemed so dumb that I found
it rather difficult to believe. Even easier to **** up than the video
showed? I agree with you, Yipes!

I'd also heard that it wasn't just standard to have one in the
chamber. It was REQUIRED.

Same thing in our language.

I guess we can trust a pilot's judgement to get a few hundred people
to their destination safely. But we just can't trust them to be
walking around the airport with an unlocked firearm.

Yeah, I don't get it, really. It's the compromise reached in order to be
able to make it happen.

With bizarre things like this I often wonder what role the litigation
experts play in the policy that is established.

There's idiotic security measures where I work; in some cases
employees are not informed of complaints against them because "it
might upset the employee".

WTF?

Anyway, I really do wonder what role lawyers played in the
establishement of the sec policy for pilots carrying in the cockpit. I
also wonder if they load "safety" rounds.
