For me, don't need faster, just flying is good for me! Only
requirement I had when buying a plane was a four place and the
Sundowner fit the bill for creature comfort.

There was one in the flying club I learned at...until, one day, a guy wiped
it out on landing at Austin Mueller. (Idiots in the tower held the crash
truck response until an airliner holding on the threshold could take off.)
Nice airplane. Didn't know it came in a retractable version, though...

It doesn't.

Gear is fixed and welded. I believe that gear handle and lights were
factory installed as a training aide for when the pilot was ready for
an upgrade to a Sierra.

Always gets experience pilots, and reactions are priceless. Lights do
light up, so it's wired to the ships power.
