![]() "CodyDawg" wrote in message m... I'm in the market for a new airplane that can carry 4 adults for 250nm typical trips. No more than $600k. Any ideas? With a 250 mile trip, speed would be less of a consideration than load carrying ability. With that in mind, why not a Piper 6X? Huge load carrier, decent speed, and they are still making 'em today. Should be able to get a great example for 1/2 to 2/3 of your price range or a new example within your range. Alternately, for 1/4 to 1/3 of your price range you could get a Cherokee Six, which is essentially the same airplane, just older. |

Thanks for the input - that's some good advice. Hadn't thought about Piper
as I have only flown Cessnas but it makes sense. "Kyle Boatright" wrote in message news ![]() "CodyDawg" wrote in message m... I loved our club's old Lance (which is basically a Cherokee 6 with retractable gear) and I'm sorry we sold it. The best thing about it, besides the huge amount of gear it would carry, is that it was so roomy. With club seating, you could put four passengers in the back, put a cooler between them, and they wouldn't bother you for the whole flight. -- Paul Tomblin http://blog.xcski.com/ When you need a helpline for breakfast cereals, it's about time to think about tearing down civilisation and giving the ants a go. -- Chris King |

Unless I'm missing something, the useful load on the MT-7-260 is only 804
lbs. "Capt. Geoffrey Thorpe" The Sea Hawk @See My Sig.com wrote in message ... In a previous article, "Kyle Boatright" said: With that in mind, why not a Piper 6X? m... Unless I'm missing something, the useful load on the MT-7-260 is only 804 lbs. So perhaps you're a small guy and your 3 passengers are supermodels that know how to pack light. Since you haven't articulated your mission very well, speculation runs rampant. Some of the blanks you might fill in are... What is the max weight (passengers + baggage) you need to carry? Will you only occassionally need to carry 4 adults? What part of the country do you live in? What kind of places do you want to fly into? How much experience do you have and in what type of aircraft? What kind of budget do you have for maintenance, operation, storage and insurance? Will you be the sole owner, or will the plane be shared? Do you plan on keeping the plane long term, or is it just a stepping stone to a more advanced aircraft? "Capt. Geoffrey Thorpe" The Sea Hawk @See My Sig.com wrote in message ... A Cessna 182 is a safe, production aircraft which should be able to
carry four adults, particularly if you only need 250nm worth of fuel plus and additional hour's worth for safety.... |

If you need a lot more useful, then that limits your choices - A Cessna 185 is likely your best bet, but you can't get one "new" anymore. -- Geoff The Sea Hawk at Wow Way d0t Com remove spaces and make the obvious substitutions to reply by mail When immigration is outlawed, only outlaws will immigrate. |
