ladies and gents,

a question came to my mind:
Are gliders (and towplanes) also affected by the UK airspace closures
due to the volcanic ashes?

Cheers
Andreas

Eh... FIR is closed for IFR and VFR traffic SFC up to FL245. Looks that
even de birds are grounded ;-)

Not quite: H0927/10 has closed EGTT (London) FIR completely to IFR SFC to
FL 195 until 16/04/2010 12:00 but says that:

"VFR OPR SHOULD EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION AND MUST ASSURE THEMSELVES THAT
THEIR INTENDED FLIGHT CAN BE CONDUCTED IN A SAFE MANNER BEFORE FLYING.
THEY SHOULD NOTE THAT ATSOCAS CAPACITY MAY BE SEVERELY LIMITED DURING THE
PERIOD."

I was refering to the Dutch FIR.
That's were I live.
Most of the Dutch think that the world ends at the Dutch border ;-)
