I considered wind turbines, but since they
don't really propel anything I declined. They
do have a scenic quality to them, even if they
have nothing to do with aviation.

Absolutely - I felt a little guilty tagging them onto the end of one of your
excellent series, but a prop is a prop.

Seeing the blades stacked along the side of the road, waiting to be
attached, they look more like whales - washed up onto the beach.

Good subjects for pictures, sure.

even if they
have nothing to do with aviation.

But aviators don't have nothing to do with them...
They grow faster than navigation maps are printed !
Just fly toward this one instead of that other, and you are a few
degrees off course...
Should turn near this one ? Or in two minute near this other ? Why is
there only one spot on the map ?
Etc...

I definitely don't like them

One project near Portland (in Victoria, my home state here in Australia)
was not approved by the government because of the risk to bird life.
Apparently, it was possible that a wind turbine would kill one
particularly rare bird every 1,000 years (no kidding!)

It does remind one of the famous "endangered" swamp darter debacle that held
up a hydro electric project.

Then there was the reptile that made its habitat in he ruts on a forestry
road that led to a ban on logging in the area.

Now we have some folks wanting to give MN the right to sue.

Some people have too much time on their hands :-)

Not all air-that-you-can-see is smog these days, but there's a picture that
still says a lot.
