So how come we didn't let the Iranians have one of these obsolete ones
instead of a newer stealthy model?

Unless one could talk the Iranians out of theirs, guess we'll have to
wait for the recent stealthy versions to make it into civilian hands.
Just think, one could finish a contest first and no one would know. Go
anywhere you like in the Grand Canyon, or even Presidential TFR flying
just 'cause you can - no problems.
