I am not sure if anything else can be more epic!

Both flights mentioned in this thread are noteworthy and inspiring. Lest
we forget, there are many "epic" flights to be had. While not
necessarily of the *world or national record breaking variety, each one
of us has the opportunity for "epic" flights as we try to do what we
have only dreamed about...even if it's a seemingly small achievement to
others.

The beauty of the sport of soaring is that we have the opportunity to
challenge ourselves and do things we may have not thought possible
before...no matter what the era or technology is being considered.

My current (albeit done "back in the day"...1984-ish) "epic" flight was
just shy of 190sm as a gold distance attempt in an SGS 1-34...I failed
to get a proper barogram "notch" so the claim was denied. I look forward
to many more epic flights in the years to come!

Right now a homebuilt sailplane is leading the standings for R8 on the
OLC, except we all know the OLC is for wussies.
