Is this an example of picking the toughest spot to set 'er down just 'cause you love a challenge?

I was emailed by Larry that he had a crew from Good Morning America at his house. Might be shown beginning of next week. Let's hope that this somehow will cast our sport in a positive light...I don't know how it could. Wish GMA featured the beauty and challenge of soaring and not a crash. Fingers crossed that Larry pulls off a hat trick and can portray our sport in a good way.

I would be very unhappy to see this video if my kids rode their bikes around a similar subdivision.

If you connect again, tell him to suggest the GMA visit Uvalde for the WGC;^)

PS: This video was used at our soaring seminar earlier this year during a talk by A8 about land outs and having a plan.

We've all heard the old saying that "any exposure is good exposure." Not sure it applies here but if handled correctly it might be beneficial. Problem is that anything positive said by the interviewee will be subject to editing by GMA.
They are more interested in the sensationalism.

What's really amazing is that an event as outstanding as the World Championships might not be thought of as news worthy here in the states. You know it will be heavily covered by the European press. We need to convince the American media that something like this is worthy of national exposure. Our media volunteers have a big task ahead of them, I'm sure a few of them are up to the task.

This attitude is very obvious to visitors to your shores: as far as the
US mass media is concerned, if it didn't happen within the continental
USA it isn't news, give or take a few stories about Israel or US troops.

I've never forgotten watching the main ABC evening news in LA some years
back. It was a 60 minute slot, but only the first ten minutes were an
approximation to real news: 4 in-city stories that might get on local
news (one was a mom-and-pop store fire in Ventura) here plus a DC
political story that was covered like it was foreign news. That was it:
the rest of the 50 minutes was sport.
