What would it be like to use if you only had the Butterfly and PowerFLARM brick? When they get the logger certified would that basic combo provide Flarm, logging, vario, glide, wind and ground speed and selection of various turnpoints?

The equipment you suggested would be fine for the items you listed. The issues is that there is only go to turnpoints and no tasking. You need a display with software for the tasking.

Thanks! I'm keeping my eye on the Butterfly as a possible replacement for the VP-4E and Colibri that I currently have. If the old Peschges ever quits working or if my club decides to equip all the gliders with PowerFLARM it looks like a good possibility for a system that will do all that the old equipment did and adds the FLARM capability without taking up too much panel space.

I don't need the tasking capability as my flights are all just flown in "make it up as you go along and go where it looks interesting" mode. As far as I'm concerned, flying a "task" sounds too much like work!
