e ink has a very slow refresh rate, so probably not suitable for moving maps, flarm alerts, thermal finders, rapidly changing numbers, etc.

The devil will depend on the details. Look at those Tophat nook videos, very impressive for an eink display.

The size is a problem for me, max. 5 inch would fit into our club
ships.
Another important thing is charging and connecting with variometer
and FLARM. We use IOIO cards for charging and data
communication. I hope the IOIO-OTG works with nook and other
similar devices.

Streak is still good enough.
