Sorry for being dense, but what platform does the Top Hat soaring app run on? I use XCSoar on my iPAQs and Androids. I was hoping for an iPhone app..

It's a derivative of XCSoar. The claimed hardware on their web page is
the Dell Streak, Nook, Samsung Galaxy, and DroidX, so that's basically Android.
I haven't heard of XCSoar being ported to iOS.

According to their website, xcsoar can be downloaded for MacOS.

once again for those that don't know about it yet:

Publishing XCSoar for iOS on the AppStore would be illegal!

The rules of the AppStore are not compatible with the open source license and spirit under which XCSoar is developed. Without the option to legally offer the app on the AppStore the potential user base is very small and the work that needs to be done to port it would not be justified in any way. If there are developers that want to do it they are free to do so, but none of the current developers think that it would be a good use of their free time.
