Lofty flies an LS6 - 18 with the seat back removed.
It depends on your mans budget? Loft has flown my Std Cirrus which he found comfortable. I would have thought that a 20,27 or 28 would be OK. On the basis Loft fits in the LS6, a 7 or 8 should work out OK too! HoHum...bored at work! He visited Blue Ridge Soaring Society and tried to fit in both a K-21 and an L-23 to no avail. I have no experience with a Puchacz or DG-500/1000 series. I expect he could fit in a 2-32, if one was available. I know one club that is operating two. Perhaps a K-7/13, though it's been a long while since I tried one on, so I don't recall how generous they are length wise. He seemed open to travelling to a commercial operator if that was the way to get trained and rated. Assuming he succeeds, then which single seaters that can handle someone that tall. I know tall pilots that fly/flew the ASW-20, Jantar Std 2, G-102, but none were 6'6". 6'7" 'Lofty' Russell flew a modified Kestrel 19 and Glasflugel 604. I thought I heard he later had a Ventus. How big is the Genesis 2? Other, newer ships? I know some really tall pilots that fly the ASH 26 E, but at 6'6", it will depend strongly on where his waist is. It will almost surely require removing the seat back, as was often done in the ASW 20. -- Eric Greenwell - Washington State, USA (change ".netto" to ".us" to email me) - "Transponders in Sailplanes - Feb/2010" also ADS-B, PCAS, Flarm http://tinyurl.com/yb3xywl |
