An option for you, Pete, might be to get an additional length of square tubing the same size as the vertical on the stand, and have it welded on. Instant taller stand! And teh weld doesn't even have to be able to slip through the bottom part. Takes a bit more space to store, but less than your calibrated, cut off ladder. Just another option.
