Tailplane mounted video cams show fin mounted TE probes to be bouncing and jiggling up and down during flight. Do we have any information to indicate whether this affects their performance? John Galloway Don't know, but it has to add a small amount of additional drag. A carbon fiber tube, being lighter and more rigid, would vibrate at a higher frequency, less magnitude, and probably further from the lower frequency movements of the fuselage. |
