You'd think so... but apparently the OLC folks think otherwise. I only cut-and-paste what they post.

Dan

My understanding of the rule is the new season, 2016, start on the 4th tuesday of september???

This is the rule from their web site.

1.3.2 Scoring period
The last day for flights to be scored in the current year is always the fourth Monday in September. The next day is the start of the scoring period for the following year.

So, it looks like the program is written to create a start of year date (4th Tuesday of September) and the rule is written to define an end of year date (4th Monday of September). Because, everyone knows the 4th Tuesday of a month is the day after the 4th Monday of a month, right? :-)

Accept it as what it is and lets keep flying!

Maybe they used a Volkswagen software programmer?

You might want to hold off on that protest, Gary. You need 1000 points to move up in the "All Flights" category, but the guy behind you only needs 200 to move you back. Are you willing to take that gamble? :-)

Well rules are rules, and you all know how I feel about rules... The guy behind me hardly ever flys this time of the year so I think I'm safe. We, on the other hand, are going to have some great soaring from now until Monday...

Ok. Now it's official. Here's Hannes' response:

Hello Gary,

yes generally you are right, but the rules are wrong, we finished the
season last weekend and we did forget to amend the rules in time. So
please apologize, the season has definitely ended last weekend,

best regards
Hannes

In protest, I have deleted all my German friends from my phone. It is now a "Hannes free" device...

Not much of an explanation on navigation, but an excellent explanation of our travels through life! Thanks
