The link posted above was taken from my first flight in wave a few years back. I think it was between Calgary and Denver? Our flight plan put us right in the sink,and I asked the Captain if he minded if I asked atc for a "deviation right of course for weather." They both thought I was nuts... but it did make us go faster!

They both thought I was nuts... but it did make us go faster! I've done that a couple of times, too: using the 'heading select' knob to steer the autopilot along the 'good' side! Last winter we flew for nearly five minutes once at FL350 with the power at idle, while maintaining at or above target mach. And we were getting paid! |
