My only hope is to start an IT consulting firm with partners that won't laugh when I suggest that we need a company airplane to visit clients... ...preferably a six-seater... I'm in. Where do I sign up? Seriously, I got checked out in a Cherokee-Six five years ago because my kids were too big to stuff into my Cherokee 140. I rented it once. My 140 has done everything since. |

Never fails to get a controller to pause on their reply when they hear Led Zeppelin in the background. ATC (to supervisor): We're picking up screams in the cockpit. I'm in. Where do I sign up? Truth be told, I'm not totally kidding. I have no concrete data but I imagine the vast majority of aircraft owners with $300K+ airplanes are NOT working for someone else. Do you think you would have gone on [even a few] more trips with the family if you *did* have a Six/Saratoga? I know it's not as easy an answer as it might seem. Marco |

I've been trying to come up with a flying/consulting idea, but still haven't worked it out. Do you think you would have gone on [even a few] more trips with the family if you *did* have a Six/Saratoga? I know it's not as easy an answer as it might seem. Probably not. Mostly because I'm not instrument rated, so my overnight trips are few and far between. Actually, I've only made three. First one I got stuck by fog on Cape Cod. #2 was Oshkosh 2001. #2 was the day after I returned from Oshkosh. My wife and kids had flown commercially to Chicago and driven from there. I left on Friday morning, but their return fliught wasn't until Sunday. I spent Saturday night in New Hampshire visiting my sister and her family. 99% of my flying is done solo. |

I've been trying to come up with a flying/consulting idea, but still haven't worked it out. I've pretty much given up on getting involved in an aviation-related business. I see many similarities among the aviation, music/entertainment, and sports industries. The ratio of successes to failures in these [what I call] "passion-based" industries are too dismal and therefore too risky for my phase of life. I'm more than willing to listen to opportunities but I don't put any hope in it. The main requirement in justifying a non-bizjet GA plane in the company is to have a multi-client base spread over a radius of less than 500-miles. Marco |

Being CEO helps a lot, too.

...flying destination? ...reason for flying? ...rating you'll work on? ...flying related goal? I've been promised that spring is coming. Many of us that have flown very little or maybe not at all during the last several months will soon be shaking the cobwebs from our heads and blowing the dust off our wings. Tell us where you'll be going and what you'll be doing! My wife has been making preliminary plans to take a short tour with the first stop at Hershey, PA, then maybe Niagara Falls and onto Cedar Point at Sandusky, OH, then onward to the in-laws near Grand Rapids, MI. When? We're not quite sure, but I'm sure it will be after all our snow is gone. What about you? Jim next flying destination: La Grande, OR (where I work, sometimes) reason for flying: Work next rating: ATP AMEL/S (trying for both at the same time) flying related goal: to retire from airborne fire fighting with ATP everything. Jim 1) Get signed off on the Super Decathlon to fly solo 2) continue with acro instruction/practice to prep for this Summer's Sportsman's level competition 3) Start IFR Went up in the Decathlon yesterday after a long hiatus. Was snakebit until yeasterday due to weather, aircraft availability holidays etc. Not nearly as rusty as I thought I'd be. got back into the groove with the maneuvers and made 2 great 3 pts and one great wheelie.
