Default Any prohibition on more than one splice on a member?

I removed a questionable external splice on a Taylorcraft landing
gear. The splice was on the streamlined strut. Unfortunately,
removing the splice didn't allow enough original tubing at the lower
end to apply an external sleeve. So I figured I'd install a splice
using an internal sleeve and give myself enough strut to then use an
external splice higher up the strut.

Any splice can introduce new stresses in a load bearing member. I would
leave a repair like this to someone qualified to do the job. There is too
much to loose if the repair fails.
