We asked for a cab to the airport once. They tried to convince us that it
was going to be very expensive. We thought this odd, and then we found out they thought we wanted to go to Indianapolis (nearest airport with airlines), and we just wanted to go across town to the local airport. ONeil Nebraska (Sure 'tis the Irish capitol of the world. Large shamrock painted right there in the center of the town's major intersection.) Asked airport manager after he helped tie down the Cessna 140, "How do we get into town?" "Take the Ford" "Huh?" "I'm sorry. There is a Ford parked out in front. Keys are in it. Take the Ford." "How do I get the Ford back to you?" "I don't know. You'll figure out something." Hotel lady couldn't wait to show us X-rays of her hip and the certificate proving that she was an admiral in the Nebraska navy. Lordy what a lovely town to grow up in -- until about the age of five, I suspect. Quent |

Molehill back to mountain. 31 years West Coast to Oshkosh C-170, 172, 182.
Cessna 120 San Diego to Boston. A dozen trips West Coast to St. Louis. Problem every trip. Jim (QDurham) shared these priceless pearls of wisdom: - -Mountain out of a molehill. 3 R/T trips San Francisco to Washington DC in a -Cessna 140. Problem never came up. Simply ask at airport. - -Quent - Jim Weir (A&P/IA, CFI, & other good alphabet soup) VP Eng RST Pres. Cyberchapter EAA Tech. Counselor http://www.rst-engr.com |

to bad Iowa City is not on a line (not even great circle) between CA and
OSH Since when does THAT have anything to do with where we fly? It doesn't make any sense for me to fly to Janesville, WI for an omelet, either. -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

Janesville has omelets? I thought they only had the "best burger in town"
to paraphrase the menu. I suspect it's the only hamburger in town. :-) Chuck Gerlach "Jay Honeck" wrote in message news:LccSa.97191$ye4.67486@sccrnsc01... to bad Iowa City is not on a line (not even great circle) between CA and OSH Since when does THAT have anything to do with where we fly? Reason for asking: thinking about flying a 65 hp Champ coast to coast. I have a C90 in an Alon Aircoupe and my friend has the O200 in an older Ercoupe. We're going to try I80 going out, and will come back that way, or maybe the southern route through Albuquerque. Read "Flight of Passage" by Rinker Buck and you will see your 65hp Champ is capable of such a flight. |
