Default Wet Vacuum Pumps

Is anyone besides me using a wet vacuum pump out there. If so how are you
dealing with the oil output? Do you have an air/oil separator just for it? I
tried tying it into my Christen inverted oil system separator but that does not
work because of the large air volume, (high pressure) from the vacuum pump
compared to the engine breather (very low pressure and low volume). I am
loosing about a quart every 4 hours durring non aerobatic flight. I am running
with about 6 quarts on an IO-360-C1D6 angle valve engine. I don't want to throw
oil away ($$) plus its a mess on the belly. $360.00 from M-20 for a vacuum pump
separator seems alot for what it is.

Make your own. I know I have seen plans, but can't remember where. Someone
else out there, point him in the right direction?

The late great Tony Bingelis has plans for an air-oil separator in _Firewall

Have a look at the "M20 Air/Oil separator" thread currently running in
rec.aviation.owning. It's run by people who have actually tried it.

Regards

Kai
