Default Fuselage weight, wood vs:tube

Several years ago I started building a RagWing Special. I built
everything but the fuselage, when the facts that it tended to fly tail
low,and would not make UL weight stopped me. Graham Lee (RIP) in a
post ,suggested the tail low attitude was caused by the lack of
downthrust, problem solved. The weight issue could be solved by a steel
tube fuselage.Any thoughts on a steel tube vs:wood weight advantage on
a smaller ac ?

Thanks

That sounds more like a rigging issue.

If the tail "flies low", then the wings probably don't have enough
angle of incidence.
