Thanks Mitchell.
I especially like the shots of the CH47 lifting the PBY Catalina and the CH54
lifting what look to be OH-1's or something similar, very impressive lifts
indeed.

Several reasons,
spare parts and in many cases , the idiots that ran MACV at Long Binh,
created more paperwork if you tried to write the airframe off..They wanted
an effort made, if there was anything salvageable..

When one of our hueys went down we had to get as much out as possible,
guns, radios, documents to prevent the VC from getting anything, and then
arrange a pickup OR the complete destruction of the airframe if salvage
was impossible...
