XC soar data issues

I have a dell streak and have downloaded the XC soar software. I am having issues having xc soar recognize the data files like maps airspace and waypoints. I can download these data files directly and I had to use file transfer from my pc.

Any ideas on what I am doing wrong.

Your maps, turn points, and special use airspace files have to be loaded
at the top level of the XCSoarData folder which should reside at the
root level of your SD card.

If you ran XCSoar without an SD card, it created an XCSoarData folder in
your internal memory space.

I've found that when you connect your Streak to a PC for file transfer
you have to use "Safely Remove Device" on the PC before turning off USB
file transfer on the Streak. Even rebooting the Streak will not fix
this. You have to turn on USB file transfer, safely remove the streak
as a remote drive, then turn off USB file transfer mode.

Of course, your data files have to be of the proper format and have the
proper file suffixes.

You can also take out your SD card from your Dell Streak, put it into an SD card adapter and write directly on the card like on a disk drive. Makes it sometimes easier...

I originally used the serial port of my CAI 302 for power but I think
that exceed the output capability of the 302 so I installed a car 12v
adaptor with a USB charger and a toggle switch to control charging. I
also used a K6BT for the control/data connection to the 302. The K6BT
is wired directly to my DC bus for its power source. I have a friend who
uses an IOIO and he's happy with that, so it's really up to you.

Depending on your computer/recorder, your log file can be downloaded to
your streak to carry home. Note that the proprietary connector on the
side of the Streak is its weak point and will fail with multiple
connect/disconnect cycles. To get around that, I've permanently
installed the cable in my streak and I download files to my smart phone
(bluetooth).

Now that I've just installed a ClearNav vario, I can simply pull the USB
stick out of the panel and take it home or next door to the FBO to
upload my flight trace.

Should be no problem. If you aren't interested in making your own IOIO
(i've made a few) you can purchase andrport, a neat little ioio based
device that supports two separate NMEA sources.

With this you will only need to make cable to connect to your model 20
and provide 12v to the androport which will in turn supply 5v and nmea
data to the android device.. I helped a friend set this up and it went
smoothly.
