Default When are the new, 2015 SSA Pilot Rankings officially published (typically)?

Not intending to complain about Mr. Leibacher at all. My issue is with the SSA itself in this regard.

The SSA sanctions the events. The SSA sets the minimum eligibility requirements. The SSA publishes the schedule of contests. The SSA publishes the results of the contests. The SSA sets the rules by which the contests are run. Why, then, do we have to depend on a 3rd party to manage the calculation and publishing of the pilot rankings?

I'm saying that the SSA membership should expect the rankings to be generated and published by the SSA, as an official SSA duty. I'm saying the timing for doing so should be within 30 days of the last completion. I'm saying that these should be standard expectations for the organization that we all pay dues to each and every year. To hope that a 3rd party continues to do it for whatever reason - love of the sport or whatever - just doesn't seem reasonable.

Let's ask that our sanctioning organization provide the services that we the members want and/or need. That's all... No disrespect to the PRL team in any way. And, as everyone likes to point out, since the work of the SSA is mostly done by the volunteers, I'm standing up and volunteering if someone can provide the raw data and the approved process.

While I really do appreciate the fact that SSA uses volunteers to manage most of these sort of maintenance tasks, I'm also somewhat shocked at comments like "we are fortunate that it gets done at all." Really? Is that what the members expect of our governing body? I find that people usually live up to the expectations that are set for them. Most people really do want to do a good job and will succeed when they know what a good job looks like. That said, why wouldn't the membership expect excellence? Why wouldn't we define a good job as having the numbers crunched and posted 30 days after the last contest of the season? I'm with Sean on this one and just don't get it.

I have to believe that all of the annual racing data is already sitting is a spreadsheet or database somewhere. If so, a couple of button clicks should be all that's necessary to convert the raw data into a ranking.

That said, if someone with access and knowledge wants to provide me with the raw data and the methodology used to produce the ranking, I'll volunteer to do the work to produce the report. I'm quite certain I can have it done in way less than 6 months time.

After checking the SSA website (http://soaringweb.org/PRL), it appears that SSA PRL's is typically not updated until just before the next season starts (February or as late as May in some instances).

When is the 2016 PRL going to be completed? Why not do it now at the earliest convienence? There are no further SSA sanctioned contests on the calendar for 2015. Why wait 6 more months to get this updated?

TIA

The gentleman that provides this service is no longer flying actively, yet does this job out of love for our sport. The PRL is far from the only thing he does for us and I for one REALLY appreciate his work.
Obviously it can't be done till after the last race is completed which was 5 days ago.
If you know your scores you can pretty much figure out where you stand. I know within a few places where I will be.
How about we take a break from beating up on volunteers

The longer this thread perpetuates the more some demonstrate their lack of understanding as to who performs the tasks within our sport.
