Default Dutch Spitfire landed hard

Yesterday the Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX of the RNLAF Historic Flight
Foundation skidded of the runway on landing at Gilze-Rijen airbase in the
Netherlands. The pilot was ok, but the aircraft suffered some damage. These
are the only pictures I could find.
The news agencies say this was the only flight-worthy Spitfire on the
European mainland.
Hope it will be restored before the next airshow in Holland. I've heard it
fly and the sound is incredible.

M DC2??

Based on the landing lights in the nose I would say it is a DC-2.

Check out airliners.net and search for DC-2 for some good pictures.

Cheers,

Indrek Aavisto
