With a brief salute to its ancestor, the Manchester.
Who could have imagined that merely adding another couple
of motors could turn an mediocre bomber into one of the
best planes ever built?

Don't forget: and changing the engines from crappy Vultures to
outstanding Merlins...

Not just a case of adding two engines; the wingspan was increased by approx
12 ft. It was crucial to the Lancaster's phenomenal payload capacity. :O)
