I am removing the vac T&B and putting in an electric and thinking of
removing the regulator and then apply full venturi vacumn to the
horizon. Is it possible to over rev a gyro with an outside venturi?
I am doing this because even after a 15 min runup I am several miles

Looking for good brake masters for homebuilt project. by
clare @ snyder.on .ca
Just wondering if anyone has a good set of used brake masters
gathering dust that they'd like to sell reasonably. Needed for 2
seater side-by side using 6" Cessna wheels and brakes. Prefer 4 cyls
for full dual control, but either a pair of integral reservoir or
external reservoir cyls would be a...

Rotax 503 won't stop running by
Tracy
I have a 503 DCDI mounted inverted in a J3 Kitten. I am using an Ivo
in flight adjustable prop and the engine plain just runs great.
The problem is that I can't turn the engine off if it is running in
the "smooth" range, the mag 1 mag 2 switches will only cut it off if
it is at a lower rpm and...

Why 4130 tube? by
Leon McAtee
Why do we homebuilders use 4130 tube? My old Aeronca does just fine
being made of mild steel. A bit of napkin calcs says that going up
just one tube diameter for the size tube we normally use, the area,
and the strength/weight goes up between 15% and 20%. This pretty
much offsets the difference...

Battery Requirements by

I'm changing the battery in my SNS-8 Hiperlight and was wondering what I
should use. The engine is a Rotax 447. Would a lead acid battery be OK?

HKS 700E Engine Reviews? by
acepilot
Is anybody on the list using the two cylinder (4-stroke) HKS 700E
engine? It's about the perfect size for an upcoming project (Georgias
Special) and I'm wondering about its reliability, toughness, etc.
compared to say a 1/2 or full VW. The original Georgias used 28 HP, so
a 1/2 VW would work and...

Air Compressor for RV Builder by
John Bundy
What size air compressor do I need for building my RV-10? I don't know
about rivets and air tools. My experience is mostly carpentry. I may
be interested in spraying some primer in interior areas but that's
about as far as I'd go with painting.

Tricycle Midget Thought by
Dick
Still interested in converting from Midget Mustang taildragger to
tricycle geared even though most previous comments were against it. My
belief is
that weight and balance considerations along with location of wheels
is manageable.
Nosegear I'm currently considering a Diehl rod-type connected...

Here's a little something I wrote today. I hope some of you enjoy it.
Return of the Dreaded Builder's Bug

it somehow. And sure enough it started happening. Something bad had
gotten into his brain. And then as he went about...

Wire for homebuilts. by
clare @ snyder.on .ca
I've come across a supply of wire at a reasonable price that I think I
want to use to wire my plane. It is NOT aircraft wire, but I have all
the spec on it. It is MTW (machine tool wire) AMW 1015/1230, FT1 and
VM1 rated. The 18 guage is 16 strand. Insulation is PVC (not
crosslinked) rated for -55...

bell xp-77-info? by
J. Paaso
whilst taking a break from my main project
(http://www.dlc.fi/~jmpaaso/experimental/), I stumbled upon the
concept of Bell xp-77. Being all wooden, it appealed to me and now I
would like to hear anything and everything concerning this aircraft.
Are there any existing drawings ? anywhere, anyone?...

Cleaning up a reamed hole? by
Boelkowj
Can anyone advise me how I should clean up a 5/16th reamed aluminum hole to
eliminate stress fractures. Is the process called "burnishing" and how is it
done? Will fine grade sandpaper work. This is an important wing fitting.
Thanks.

Here's a savory tidbit for any of those who were around during the
dark days of the Zoom Wars, a galactic battle of truth versus evil
that is now long faded into the foggy memories of the last century.
Does the subject of this news article sound familiar to any of you RAH
