Next Time I Do Fabric Work on an Airplane by
Larry Smith
I'll use Airtech, not Stits, now known as Polyfiber. The latter is a great
process, don't get me wrong. It's just that Airtech is better, simpler,
easier and produces superior results. *And* it lasts and lasts. Take a
look at a 10- or 15-year-old Airtech cover and you'll see why.
As for...

Regarding the Subject of the ADIZ and Other Restrictions Following 9-11 by
Larry Smith
Osama won, and won big. He wanted Americans to turn on each other after
9-11, and that's what we've done. Our government has turned on us, and in
turn we have turned on each other and are cowering in corners. We are
polarized, full of hate and suspicion, and have given up more of our
precious...

Spar gluing by

Anyone know of any downfalls to using liquid nails to glue spars together?
And yes, I expect the usual ignorant smart asses, who really don't have an answer.

TrueType N number Font? by
Errol Groff
I have a vinyl cutter that will do the 12" letters called for to do N
numbers but wonder if there is a TrueType font that meets the
specifications of the FAA.
That is 12" high, width 2/3 of height, thickness 1/6 of height etc.
Any suggestions gratefully relieved!

"Seven Flights of Fancy that Fizzled" by
Orval Fairbairn
I just got this off MSNBC:
http://www.msnbc.com/news/988554.asp
They mention flying cars and Moller, but not with the usual gullible
reporter approach, although they do not really delve into the reasons
that it is a fizzle.

Single-Seat Accident Records (Was BD-5B) by
Ron Wanttaja
With the current discussion in another thread regarding the accident record
of the BD-5, I thought it might be interesting to do a little more in-depth
look. I decided to examine the accidents between 1 January 1990 and 13
November 2003 and do a breakdown as to relative accident/fatality...

Lubricating the primer shaft by
Michael Horowitz
I know that the primer shaft comes in contact with gasoline so that
any lube I put on the shaft will be washed away, but can anyone
recommend how to make the primer slide easier? Worked fine during the
summer, but last weekend it was the dickens to pull out and push back
in. - Mike

DIY gapping sparkplugs by
Michael Horowitz
I know the correct way to gap a plug is to use a plug vice. I don't
have easy access to one. Short of using a bench vice, hammer, and
drift, is there a less brutal way to adjust the gap? - Mike

Any Info on Hipec? No Rib Stitching? by
bling bling
I wonder if anyone has experience with the Hipec fabric covering system? It
claims that no rib-stitching is required for most reasonably loaded wings.
This seems remarkable, to say the least.
It's sold by Falconar Aviation http://www.falconaravia.com/

It is a small black box (approx. 3 x 3 x 2 inch).
The front panel consists of a small Diplay, four LED (Start,...

Hot Spark Ignition by

A friend in Florida rigged up his own non-magneto ignition robbed from a

If I recall correctly he has it set up to advance itself as much as 35
degrees. Any more anecdotes about nonstandard ignition boxes?

Tire inflation pressure by

What is the proper pressure to use with 5.00-5 mains and 10x3.50-4 nose

Another related question: both mains tend to loose air slowly - would
be flat after about 3 months sitting. Is this typical or should I get

Connecting Rod Specifications by
Cambridge_Flyer
Hi, I'm putting together a Lycoming 0-320A engine from parts I've scrounged
together. I have four connecting rods, three of which are within .12 oz of
each other and the forth is about .5 oz less then the other three. Does
anyone know what the Specs are for Lycoming Connecting Rods?? Thanks.
