I have a Bose X operating with a PS Engineering PM-3000, and the sound is
great. As I just posted in rec.aviation.piloting, my experience with Bose service is also excellent. Even though mine are four years old and were purchased second-hand with my plane, Bose recently repaired them free of charge, and also replaced the headband padding, the cable and both ear-pads into the bargain. That, and they turned them around in a week, and offered me a loaner if that was going to be too slow! $1000 is a lot of money, but it's worth it.
