It is there so that if you have an engine out nearby, you can put it
down in that straight and have a better chance of surviving the forced landing as opposed to landing into the trees. The path is cleared of trees (well big ones anyways) for vehecle access. The Monk Not really a good idea.. care to see one glider looked like totaled landing on what appeared to be a road? Had to airlift the pilot out by helo, and vehicle access? not really.. sure.. with a Dodge Power Wagon and a couple of hours to go 3 miles. He would have been better off landing in the desert about 1 mile west. BT |
