NASA withheld the publicly funded study on the grounds that it would possibly negatively impact the airline industry. Why would the airline industry care? You'll have to refer that question to NASA. If anything it would give them ammo for their new tax and "reduce GA" proposals. No one could honestly believe that a measuable number of people would stop flying as a result of this information. Apparently some at NASA hold that opinion.
