Have told the story in lots of detail prior on News Group.

Short story. On approach to Sondrustrom Greenland,(Wx 1000/3 in snow
storm) GCA lost all but one frequency which went intermittent. I went
to Guard channel. They forgot I was on Guard Channel and tried to talk
to me on the discrete frequency (which of course I could not hear).
After they realized their error, they came up on Guard and sent me
around. I had 12 gallons of jet fuel so pulled up toward ice cap and
punched. Picked up by a Danish Chopper along with the rest of my
flight (3 other pilots).

Just lucky for all four of us to be alive so down a few every 8
December in remembrance )
