See: http://www.defense-update.com/newsca...s2204_bams.htm Anyone know why it was chosen over Predator/Mariner? A BAMS radar is cover for the actual design. A classified ability is to be fielded. It was warned of in the website given above. Look down radar in a small package is a big deal. It is not conventional AWACS look down. So the only alternative is to surmise the true functional theory. A paired aircraft system might be a hidden technology. A side radar while it looks to the front allows scanning. So simple side " i forget the name", radar, front looking. A speed issue would appear the problem for the aircraft would have to search. A large area side radar scan is possible as the size gets larger. A paired aircraft can cause the virtual source to enlargen. Exact radar pulse timing between aircraft is implied. A larger fleet means a faster scan. |
