Still too many alerts and warnings by
John Mittell
I have unchecked all but the critical warning. Does the vertical range
limit the number of warnings by displaying only those threats within the
bounds of vertical range. If so, what is a safe number, 500 feet?

LXNAV S80 Pilot Reports? by
[email protected]
Would anyone care to comment on their experience with the LXNAV S80 vario? Pro's, con's, likes, dislikes, does it perform per manual specs, etc? On paper it looks like a very nice instrument. Thanks for any feedback.

OLC Grand Prix Standard Class at Wasserkuppe by

http://gliderrace.onlinecontest.org/glider-race-wertung/2-wertungstag-sonntag-02-08-2015/
Good report on the OLC news-page. There is so little news on Standard Class, it is refreshing to see that flap-less gliders can still be flown at very good speeds. LS8 or Discus 2 does not seem to be matter...

Accounts of Parachuting Experiences by

Michael:
What sort of landings do the modern ram-air canopies give if the jumper does nothing to flare or otherwise control the touchdown? I was under the impression that a round chute can't give you the control and nice touchdown that a ram-air can but that it will deliver you reasonably safely...

Reminder to SPOT and InReach Sat tracker users... by
Sean Fidler
All,
This is probably rudimentary but today I have noticed several pilots today with Sat Trackers but no tracking during their flights.
Remember that if you are flying in some "big" soaring location (or even your local club) with a SAT tracker that is NOT automatically "tracking" (pinging...

Airspeed indicator ? by
[email protected]
My airspeed indicator seems to have devolved a leak and pitot pressure is causing readings on the old uncompensated winter vario. When I blow on the pitot tube and disconnect the static line of the airspeed indictor you can hear air moving through the static line from the airspeed indicator.
Has...

Buoyancy/Shear Ratio by
Soartech
What do you think about the BLIPMAP Buoyancy/Shear Ratio parameter?
Is it accurate that less than 7 makes the day difficult to work?
I have found lately that this seems to be true but my sample size
is small. I am in the northeast US. Location is probably a factor.

Rocket launch system ... by
POPS
With a little extra engineering .... take it full size. Add in the self contained rubber energy system as a sustainer, and you've got it all.... It's the future!

Iglide by
chris johnson
I am completely at a loss when it comes to computers. I bought Iglide downloaded maps etc. and was ready to go in 5 stress free minutes. I have not flown with it yet so I do not know if I will need an external gps. So far so good.

Does anyone know if there is possibly a new link for "Mapgen" with XCSOAR?
It appears to be non-functional the last few days.

Komet Surge brake, help needed by

I took apart the surge brake on my 1979 Komet trailer. It seems to be slamming forward when I apply the brakes on the tow vehicle.
I was expecting to see a gas strut held between the 2 vertical bolts.
Pictures of mine are...

Super simple portable flight recorder for beginning lessons? by
teck48[_2_]
Hello all. I'm about to take lessons to get back into gliding at Adrian Soaring Club here in Michigan. It's been twenty years since I've flown. Let's hope it's like riding a bicycle....
Thought it might be fun to use an online flight logbook that I could hopefully attach IGC files to to record and...
