bolt not coming undone on asw-15b mainwheel by
[email protected]
Trying to change the tube out. There's 3 small 10 mm nuts on one
side. One of them came right off no problem. The other two, turn,
but the bolts spin with the nut! The backside of the bolt is inside
the wheel. The only one that came off, was just easy to unscrew.
If I can't reach inside and...

20B Panel by
jcarlyle
Hi Guys
Does anyone have a 20B panel outline file that will work in Auto CAD
program. The 20B has a completely rounded top a flat bottom and steps
on both sides. It is different than a 19, 20A, and is the same as a
20C.
Thanks Norm

Jim Payne's Flight by
rlovinggood
Did anyone notice on OLC the flight that Jim Payne flew on Sunday, 29
MAR 09?
http://www.onlinecontest.org/olc-2.0/gliding/flightinfo.html?dsId=738700
1,602.4 km at a "leisurly" 166.6 km/hr!!! And, he did it flying an
ASW-27, not a new 18m ship such as LS10 or ASG29 or Ventus 2c... or

cobra trailer brake lever gas strut failure? by
Frank[_1_]
It appears that the gas strut on the brake lever of my cobra trailer
has failed. Today I noticed the lower end was no longer connected
(apparently the bottom pin detached from the fixed connection point),
and it was just hanging loose by the top connection. In addition, the
strut seems jammed in...

SeeYou Mobile achieved L/D question by
[email protected]
Two of the most useful features to me in SeeYou Mobile, (or any other
soaring software) is the ability to display the L/D to any point, and
more importantly, your actual, achieved L/D over the ground in real
time. If you are flying to maximize your L/D over the ground, the
advantage is that for...

Wind powered land speed record. by
[email protected]
http://www.greenbird.co.uk/
On the morning of March 26th, 2009 on the 'dry' Lake Ivanpah, The
Greenbird - driven by British engineer Richard Jenkins - smashed the
world land speed record for wind powered vehicles.
The Greenbird clocked 126.1 mph (202.9 km/h) , eclipsing the old,
American held,...

Turnpoint File Management by
Papa3
So, I now have multiple loggers (an older CAI Model 20 and an EW
Microrecorder). I've got all of my task planning set up on SeeYou.
SeeYou can export waypoints and tasks in multiple formats. So far so
good.
Now, the problem. The older CAI can only handle 250 waypoints. There
are more than 500...

A little off topic by
Fred Blair
I know this is not a glider question, but it is for a gliderport.
Does anyone know of any pipe other than metal that can withstand 150 psi for
a paint booth application.
I need to run 300 ft. from the compressor to the booth.
Thanks,
Fred

Availability is no problem but it seems these are all knock offs. I
have not had good luck with these. Does anyone have information on a
source for higher quality?

Model Gliders and Cherokee II's by
Tony Condon[_2_]
Did everyone see the article in Soaring this month about model sailplanes?
Very interesting. I learned about the scale model movement a few years ago
when I was researching Cherokee II stuff. Tom Martin had just come out
with his Cherokee II kit at that time. I found that there were a lot...

Active Cherokee II's by

Ive recently moved to Wichita, KS, and have had this question asked of me

around 150 Cherokee II's were built worldwide. I only for certain know
of 2 that are still flying. Mine and David Standley's (im sure thats

My EW is not talking to my SN-10 by
Jim Archer
The PDA is receiving GPS signal from the Goddard cable when it is NOT
plugged into the SN-10. When it is plugged into the SN-10 neither the
SN-10 nor the PDA receive GPS signal. The baud rates are set at 4800 on
the SN-10 (by default I understand), the EW, and the PDA (SeeYou mobile).
The SN-10...

A new scam addressed at soaring pilots? by
Greg Arnold[_2_]
I think I should post about a recent scam, in the hopes that a soaring
pilot will not be a victim.
The local gliderport needs a right wing for a Blanik L-23. We posted an
ad on Tim's W & W site. Someone contacted me by email, and said he
had seen the ad. He was in NY, and he had the right wing...

Winch Launch Safety Study by
[email protected]
In the recent Aerokurier, there is a very good 2 part article on winch
safety, which I think everyone should read who is interested in winch
launches. I read it in the hard cover version in German, so I don't
know if an online version is available.
The main takeaways for me are the following...

The special flight restrictions and procedures around Washington D.C.
put into place after 9/11/2001 were made permanent last month
