Oregon vacation report (really long) by JJS
The wife and I just back from our Oregon vacation that you helped us plan. You guys did a wonderful job. Day 1: Left OKC on a Canadair regional jet to Phoenix. Boarded a 737 whose APU wouldn't start. 107 degrees on the tarmac and no AC. And we left our Cherokee at home why? Oh well. Landed...

Unusual Vacuum system indication, Please help explain by Al
Hi Group. I tried this on Rec.Aviation.Ifr, but no one has come up with any good ideas, so I am bringing it to you guys, (including the ilk). I had a trip Friday in a 1977 C-337G(pressurized). On the taxi out I noticed the suction gauge was pegged high. The AI erected ok, but the DG required...

mogas by cosmick
Do you own and fly an experimental or mogas-stc aircraft based at a field that does not have mogas? If you would like to help other experimental/mogas-stc pilots obtain mogas when they travel, and see some interesting planes when they pass through your area, add yourself to the...

Anybody here have a CH701? by Chris
I am looking into purchasing a high wing STOL 701 kit. From what I have been able to gather I should be able to easily get in and out of my little postage stamp sized property with this aircraft. Looking for opinion on this, I have a 300 X 600 foot long strip with obstructions on the end of the 600...

Advice, please: too old to fly? by R.W. Behan
There can be no better source of advice than this group for my question: am I too old to take up flying--and building an airplane? Full disclosure. As a young man in the Korean War I was an aviation machinist's mate in the Navy. As a forestry student in the late '50's I was a smokejumper, so I...

Welding question: reinforce by inner sleeve by Michael Horowitz
Folks - 43-13-1B says an inner sleeve can be up to 1/16th inch smaller in diameter than the ID of the original tubing. When you slip the inner tube inside the original tube 1/16th turns into a lot of slop. Do you make any attempt to center the inner tube in the original tubing? If so, how? - Mike

Flying on the Cheap -- Headsets by [email protected]
In the March 2006 issue of 'Sport Aviation,' back on page 130 is a short article by Kathleen L. Witman that shows some examples of antique avionics. But if you're interested in antiques most pilots need look no further than their own headset. See that quarter-inch phone plug? It dates from the...

Welding question 2 by Bill Daniels
I am struggling to master a simple 115V wire feed welder. I need to repair a glider trailer. Now, I'm pretty damn good with oxy-acetylene and TIG but this wire feed thing has me stumped. The rig I borrowed doesn't have an argon bottle for true MIG welding so I'm using flux core wire. Of course...

Hi Jim, I spoke with you earlier today about this. I have 3 aux audio inputs that I want to run through my PM-3000 intercom. The problem is the PM-3000 does not support any unswitched aux inputs. I had tried running them through the entertainment input but this results in the audio only playing...
