EGT Problem by
Dennis O'Connor
Two possible causes, Newps...
One is a broken wire(s) going to the instrument panel where moving the wire
around to work on the lugs causes the broken ends to abrade and make better
contact for a while, and then they reoxidize... This is high on my
suspicion list since it is the same two wire...

Good Stories about Plane Purchases by
Jon Kraus
I am looking into purchasing my own plane... I think that I am pretty
aware of the costs (as much as a non-owner can be). I would like to
hear from those of you who have had a good experience with a plane
purchase. I have the bad experience posts also. My guess is that the
good will outweigh the...

Repairing Plastic by
Jay Honeck
The faceplate on my Narco CP-136 Audio Panel was broken off (and glued back
together) before I bought the plane. The left side of the faceplate, where 2
retaining screws attach it to the metal chassis, had been glued at least
once before I bought it, and my avionics shop had glued it back together...

Best Clock? by
Jay Honeck
The old wind-up clock in my Pathfinder has become sporadic at best. When it
was below zero here, it didn't work at all.
Any recommendations on a replacement?

AOPA Pilot color blind? by
Jim Burns[_2_]
The latest issue of AOPA Pilot contains an article about vortex generators.
The article places high emphasis on how they can improve controllability
during low airspeed single engine operations in twin engine airplanes. The
subtitle of the article, as it relates to twins, mentions "Blueline Ops...

Q re Instrument lighting upgrade by Aero Enhancement: anyone with experience? by
Andrew Gideon
The club to which I belong is upgrading the instrument lighting in one of
our 182s. I've been doing the research side of this.
All was going well. We ultimately decided upon the panel overlay product
from Aero Enhancement, and started looking at shops to do the installation.
And here's where I...

Question on ownership by
John
Seems to me an element of flexability would be required for this to
work, in addition to the money/piloting skills etc. If you can work
from home from time to time (telecommute), that will help you when the
aircraft goes down for maintainance. Also, what about thunderstorms
during the summer? ...

New Prop on my Mooney Ovation by
Charles Talleyrand
I have read that the main difference between the Ovation and the Ovation II is the better prop on the second airplane. Can one
install the new prop on the old model. It's the same airplane and the same engine between both the Ovation and Ovation II, so the
only worries are legal ones.
Finally, I...

I'm Going In... Radio Saga Continued... by
three-eight-hotel
I've posted twice before on the problems I have been having with my
Narco radio's:
http://groups.google.com/group/rec.aviation.owning/browse_frm/thread/981307ec4df68cc6
I've decided that I'm going to pull the radio and the connector tray
and run new coax from the radio to the antenna, after...

auxiliary heat by
Jim Burns
Does anyone in the group use a 12v auxiliary heater or heated blanket for
added cabin or passenger heat? I've seen that they come in 150watt/12.5 amp
and 300watt/ 30amp versions. We'd have to figure out the current load on
our alternators but I'm wondering if we should even consider such an...

Analog tach replacement by
Mike Noel
I have suspected for a while that my old analog tach was lying to me. My
Archer's static RPM at take-off was measuring about 22k and the minimum spec
was 2325, but the plane seemed to have good cruise speed. When I pointed an
optical tach through the windshield I read a static RPM of 23.4K. ...

Rough Engine, please help by
John Clonts
The IO-520 in my Cessna 210 is running rough. It seems to run smooth
at 1000 rpm but the roughness appears above about 1400. One cylinder
is “cold” and apparently not producing any power. I
pulled the rocker cover and found that the intake valve spring was
broken. My mechanic and I...

C172 / 5th Passenger by

Anyone use the child seat in a C172? I am looking for experiences so I can
make the call of whether to invest in one. Currently, I am looking at a
C172M w/180HP, but have 3 kids under 8 and want to take the family up for
some rides. If I could afford a larger plane, I would.
Where would I get...

paint like polish? by
ivo welch
hi chaps: I need to repaint my aircraft. Problem is that I like the
look of polish (i.e., shiny aluminum) rather than paint; but from what
I understand, polish requires a lot more maintenance. unfortunately,
I do not have the time to maintain it in the condition necessary, and
my local aviation...

Odd Experience with ANR Headset by
Ron Wanttaja
I have a Flightcom Denali ANR headset that does a fairly good job of
cutting down the noise level. However, with an open-cockpit airplane,
there's a limit. When making a long flight, I generally use a pair of foam
earplugs to cut down on the noise energy my ears are exposed to. This
*almost*...

Middleton, WI (C29) Hangars? by

I am moving to Madison, WI later this year and have heard thru the

my calls have not been...
